If you aren't using neutral "cantrip" skills (Overpower, Guts etc.), one way to mitigate that downside is to fill the remaining 4 slots with those skills (or other self-replacing cards) which have a good chance of attenuating the downside of a bigger deck. The conventional wisdom is that unless you are using it for a very specific reason, the downside of +5 cards in your deck is too much to be worth it (to say nothing of the exp), which applies even for investigators with lots of draw power (like Patrice or Mark), albeit to a lesser extent. Honestly, I think it's best to start up a separate Versatile thread.
